The third part again took a sharp turn: after the second with its holistic through plot, it offered a set of sketches loosely connected to each other. Here, as in the first part, four nameless and completely empty characters travel the world, getting involved in new and new stories that resemble all kinds of fairy tales. Now the genie enchants the village, then the dragon lord kidnaps the heroes and brings them to the nest to his “chicks”, then the four have to decrease in order to return an important artifact that the rat stole into its lair. The main plot “wakes up” towards the end of the game, but, of course, there are not enough stars from the sky either.

In the role-playing system, the third part also undertook to develop what was laid down in the first: there it was impossible to change the chosen professions, but here it is already possible – and this is the main thing that you have to do here. There are two dozen classes to choose from, each with its own characteristics and some one skill that can help out in a particular situation. True, this system does not give much depth or flexibility: in order for a profession to be effective, it must first be pumped, which means that you will either use plus or minus the same team composition, or grind.

And Final Fantasy III is also known for its prohibitive complexity towards the end: its developers themselves admitted that they went too far. Moreover, this difficulty was achieved not by terrible status effects, as in FF2, but by a crooked balance and huge damage from the final bosses, which forced us to engage in monotonous grinding. I have not been able to verify this personally, but judging by the large number of players on Steam who have received the achievement for completing the remaster, this problem has been solved in it. It seems to be the lightest version of FF3 – and good.

Bottom line: the remaster makes the passage a little easier than in previous versions, but Final Fantasy III has practically no significant advantages.
